Satyaraj, who was last seen in Mersal following Baahubali-2: The Conclusion, will next be seen in Prithviraj-starrer Kaaliyan. According to director S Mahesh, the actor will be playing a significant role in the movie. Though he didn't reveals details about the Tamil actor's role, he said it won't be a negative character. 

"We met Satyaraj with the script. He loved the narration and immediately expressed his interest in the movie," says Mahesh. With Satyaraj signing Kaaliyan, this will be his next in Malayalam after Laila O Laila, which had Mohanlal in the lead. Kaaliyan, that will go on the floors after a year, is based on the life of a warrior Kaaliyan, who has been mentioned in the Northern Ballads of Kerala. 

The mega-budget movie will also mark the debut of Bollywood composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in Malayalam.
