Anu Hasan's Kalarippayattu skills handy for comeback film

The actress says her training in the martial art form from Kerala came in very handy while performing action scenes in her upcoming Tamil film

Anu Hasan says her training in Kalaripayattu, a martial art form from Kerala, came in very handy while performing action scenes in the upcoming Tamil action-drama, Valladesam.

Directed by Nantha, the film has her playing a mother who is in search of her kidnapped daughter.

"It's a film in which the action is justified. I play a mother desperate to find her daughter. From being this gentle, simple mother, I become extremely courageous and intimidating. Audiences will find this transformation quite shocking," says Anu.

This film marks her comeback to Tamil cinema after six years.

On the action scenes, Anu adds, "My experience in Kalaripayattu gave me the confidence to perform the action scenes with ease. The director was on the lookout for an actress who could pull off such a role."

Anu says the fact that the role has so much to offer besides simply being a film mother got her excited
