Saamy Square gets a new cinematographer

Express Features

Vikram's upcoming film Saamy Square, sequel to the 2003 cop film, directed by Hari, was supposed to have cinematographer Priyan as part of the team. All but one of Hari's films till date had Priyan behind the lens. However, due to the sudden demise of Priyan, the makers had to scout for a new cinematographer, and it's now confirmed that A Venkatesh who has worked on films in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil, is on board for the project.

Talking to CE about the film, Venkatesh says, "Yes, I've been roped in as the cinematographer. I was contacted by director Hari and producer Shibu Thameens via phone. I'm yet to meet them though as I'm currently not in Chennai. Once I'm back, I'll discuss with them and find out when I'll be joining the sets."

The only previous collaboration of Venkatesh with Vikram was for Gemini in 2002.

It is notable that this is the third change in Saamy Square's team, with Devi Sri Prasad earlier replacing Harris Jayaraj as the music composer. Also, while Trisha and Keerthy Suresh were roped in as the female leads, the former left the film citing 'creative differences'.
