Venkatesh Maha, who recently directed the critically acclaimed period drama Rao Bahadur, is now gearing up for his next film. The makers unveiled the title and first-look posters of Attahaasam on Tuesday. Apart from directing the film, Venkatesh Maha is also playing one of the lead roles.
Venkatesh Maha and Karthik Ratnam play the male leads, while popular social media influencer Sravanthi Peepakayala and Pushpa 2 fame Pavani Karanam play the female leads. The makers describe the film as another rooted and realistic story from the director.
“From the land of Kancharapalem, yet again comes another story! This time, it’s Attahaasam! Another real, rooted and authentic entertainer! Because life is unpredictable… and sometimes, all you can do is laugh! Presenting the Title & First Look of the next MAHA CHITHRAM! #Attahaasam — Summer 2027 Release,” Venkatesh Maha wrote on his social media page.
Srichakraas Entertainment, the production house behind the blockbuster film KA, is joining hands with Mahayana to produce Attahaasam. The film is presented by Chinta Varalaxmi and produced by Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy and Rajashekar Reddy Chinta, with Chinta Vineesha Reddy serving as co-producer.
Venkatesh Maha made his directorial debut with C/O Kancharapalem, a low-budget film that won critical acclaim and emerged as a success. Known for its realistic storytelling and rooted characters, the film established Maha as a distinctive voice in Telugu cinema. With Attahaasam, the director appears to be returning to a similar storytelling space, blending realism with humour.
The intriguing captions accompanying the first-look posters have already sparked curiosity about the characters and the situations they encounter. Attahaasam is being made as a realistic, rooted and authentic entertainer and is scheduled for a theatrical release in Summer 2027. The makers are expected to announce further details about the film soon.
