Earlier this week, we had reported about Netflix locking a release date for its upcoming original series Shaque: Trust No One, which stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. On Thursday, the streamer released the official trailer for the series.

Directed by Rensil D’Silva, Shaque features Parineeti as Anita, a mother who continues to cope and struggle to deal with the loss of her daughter Apeksha, who went missing 8 years ago. However, Anita’s wounds resurface 8 years later when the kidnapper begins to send photos of her daughter. Resultantly, Parineeti’s character goes into a spiral all over again, seeking her daughter in every girl she meets on her arduous journey. Strangely enough, Anita’s journey gets harder with all the gaslighting she faces from people around her, including her own family. Meanwhile, Anita’s struggle leads to other old corpses being dug out, both literally and metaphorically.

Set for Sept 24 premiere, Shaque is created by Rensil and Siddharth P Malhotra. The latter has also produced the show alongside his wife Sapna Malhotra under Alchemy Films banner. Meanwhile, Rensil has penned the screenplay in association with Venika Mitra and Riva Razdan. Abbas Dalal and Hussain Dalal are credited for dialogues.

Rensil is primarily known for writing films like Aks (2001) and Rang De Basanti (2026).

The primary cast of the series includes Soni Razdan, Anup Soni, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Dhruv Chowdhary, and Sumeet Vyas, among others. In the technical team, Shaque has Jishnu Bhattacharjee as the cinematographer, Shweta Venkat Mathew as the editor, and Priya Sugas as the production designer.

Parineeti was last seen alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Imitiaz Ali's Amar Singh Chamkila (2024), which too incidentally was a Netflix original.
