In February, we had reported about Chumbak, one of the many series projects announced by Netflix at the 2026 slate event. On Friday, Netflix announced the streaming date for the series.
Chumbak will have its OTT premiere on August 28. The makers also released a tongue-in-cheek video to make the announcement, with Neena Gupta and Deven Bhojani, two of their lead cast members, announcing the addition of a new family to the Netflix universe. Earlier in March, Deven Bhojani took to social media to share that the shooting for Chumbak has been wrapped.
Chumbak promises to be a light-hearted sitcom that captures the old-world charms of neighbourhood friendships. As five families live together as neighbours and navigate through myriad situations, they inadvertently end up becoming a surrogate family for each other too. The show is created by Aatish Kapadia, who is popular for creating many popular TV shows including the iconic sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Infact, the upcoming series features many of the Sarabhai cast members including Deven Bhojani and Sumeet Raghavan.
JD Majethia is producing the upcoming series, with Aatish also serving as the director. The cast for the series also includes Amyra Dastur, Anant V Joshi, Sumeet Vyas, Manasi Parekh, Arjun Bijlani, Helly Shah, and Sandeepa Dhar, among others.
Neena Gupta was last seen in Vadh 2, whereas Deven Bhojani was recently seen in the Prime Video series Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya.
Other upcoming Netflix shows include Operation Safed Sagar, which is set for streaming release on August 7. The military drama stars many notable actors like Siddharth, Dia Mirza, Abhay Verma, and Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead cast.
