Actor Sivakarthikeyan's latest actioner, Madharaasi, which hit theatres on September 5, is all set to premiere on OTT. The AR Murugadoss directorial also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Biju Menon and Vikranth in prominent roles. Upon its theatrical release, the film opened to positive reviews.

On Friday, Prime Video announced that the film will premiere on the streamer on October 1. The film, marking the maiden collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Murugadoss, follows Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan), a depressed person with a condition called Fregoli delusion, who is drawn into a sinister gun smuggling world and is on a mission to prevent the weapons from falling into a common man's hands. The primary driving factor is more personal than social responsibility.

An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "In many ways, Madharaasi is a solid comeback for Murugadoss, who was facing an extended slump in his career. It acts as a showreel for the action avatar of Sivakarthikeyan. It allows Rukmini to make a solid mark in a role that isn’t relegated to being a damsel in distress and is, in fact, the reason why the wheels of the film are set in motion."

Aadukalam Naren, Thalaivasal Vijay, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Rishi Rithvik, and Siddhartha Shankar, among others, play important supporting characters in the film. The technical crew of Madharaasi includes Anirudh as the music composer, Sudeep Elamon as the cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad as the editor. On completing its second week of theatrical run, the film grossed Rs 100 crore worldwide.
