The dip in collections continue for Sivakarthikeyan's recent action entertainer Madharaasi. After opening with a promising Rs 13.65 crore on day 1, followed by Rs 12.1 crore on day 2 and Rs 11.4 crore on day 3, the film's revenue dropped significantly to Rs 4.15 crore on the first Monday. On Tuesday, it dipped further by another Rs 1 crore to earn Rs 3.15 crore, according to Sacnilk.com. Overall, the film has minted Rs 44.45 crore across India and is inching closer to the Rs 50 crore mark, but is yet to touch the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide.

The AR Murugadoss-directorial was met with favourable reviews from audiences and critics, with many praising Sivakarthikeyan and Vidyut Jammwal's performance, along with appreciation for its screenplay upon its release on September 5. Despite disappointing collections on weekdays, the film is expected to see a revival on the weekends with better footfall.

While Rukmini Vasanth plays the female lead in Madharaasi, Biju Menon, Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal are also part of the film, portraying key roles. Additional cast members include Prem Kumar, Sanjay and Sachana Namidass. Madharaasi marks Murugadoss' comeback to Tamil cinema after five years following Rajinikanth's Darbar (2020). Vidyut is reuniting with Murugadoss after Thuppakki (2012).

Our CE review of the film read, "This is quite a ‘different’ start to a film, but one that is absolutely in tune with whatever follows in this mad ride that hopes you have faith in the filmmaker to steer things home safely, even if it hits a few roadblocks on the way. And for the man who made films like DheenaRamanaGhajiniThuppakki, and KaththiMadharaasi might just be a reminder that he still has it in him."

The story follows a man suffering from Fregoli delusion who becomes entangled in a dangerous mission to stop the smuggling of illegal arms into Tamil Nadu.

The technical crew of the film includes Anirudh as the music composer, Sudeep Elamon as the cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad as the editor.
