John Cena to join the sets of Peacemaker Season 2

CE Features

Actor and WWE wrestler John Cena has revealed details of his shooting schedule for the rest of the year.

In a talk show hosted by Pat McAfee, Cena said he would join the Heads of State sets in Europe alongside Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba. The action comedy, directed by Ilya Naishuller was facing production delays owing to the writers' strike.

That apart, following a huge viewership for the first season, Cena said he will also return to shoot for the second season of the anti-hero series in HBO Max, Peacemaker, which is based on DC characters. Amidst expectations of integration of Peacemaker Season 2 with the DC Universe (DCU), DC boss James Gunn clarified that season 2 unfolds after the events of DCU Superman but before Waller show events. So he said it would not make sense for John Cena's Christopher Smith/Peacemaker to return before Superman, starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, releases in theatres on July 11, 2025.

To a fan's query on when will the second installment of Peacemaker go on floors, Gunn said, "In less than two months." It is expected the shoot will begin at June.

Gunn also made it clear that Peacemaker Season 1 will remain out of the DC Universe.
