Skanda, Boyapati Sreenivas’ latest action drama has an OTT release date. The film will be available for streaming on the Disney + Hotstar app from November 2 onwards. The film stars Ram Pothineni in a double role. Sreeleela and Saiee Manjrekar play the female leads of the film, while Prince Cecil, Raja Daggubati, Gautami, Sharath Lohithaswa and Srikanth, among others, essay supporting roles. Urvashi Rautela makes a cameo in a special dance number. The film had its theatrical release on September 28.
The film’s plot revolves around how Ram’s character avenges the wrongful imprisonment of his father’s do-gooder best friend by abducting the daughters’ of the Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana. Skanda, also titled Skanda The Attacker, is a loud actioner, made in the trademark style of its director Boyapati Sreenivas. This is the director’s first collaboration with Ram. Boyapati is reportedly set to work with Suriya next, though there have been no official announcements confirming the same so far. Skanda had a decent run at the box office, despite some reviews calling the film Boyapati Sreenivas’ weakest work to date. A CE review of the film reads, “The reasons why Skanda isn't the unhinged masala entertainer it could have been are plenty. The pacing and the energy of the film's action sequences are the primary culprits.”
Skanda was produced by Shine Silver Screens, in association with Zee Studios. Thaman composed the music for the film, with cinematography by Santosh Detake and editing by Tammiraju.
