Actor Unni Mukundan of Marco and Malikappuram fame has lauded the Kerala government's ongoing crackdown on narcotics and organised drug networks in Perumbavoor, following swift police action triggered by a video he had shared on social media. A few days ago, Unni reposted a video originally uploaded by the Instagram page Perumbavoor Stories, which purportedly showed people openly consuming drugs in broad daylight in Perumbavoor. Tagging the Kerala Police, the actor urged authorities to take note. The video quickly went viral, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.

Now, Unni has returned to social media to express his appreciation for the measures being taken as part of Operation Toofan, the Kerala Police's anti-narcotics drive. In a detailed Facebook post, he praised the government and police for what he described as a firm and uncompromising stance against drug-related crimes. "I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Kerala," Unni wrote, adding that the ongoing operations and arrests have sent out a strong message that narcotics-related offences will not be tolerated.

The actor also highlighted the role played by the youngsters who first documented and shared the situation online. According to him, it was through their video that he became aware of the issue before forwarding it to the Kerala Police. Unni commended the police department and its IT Cell for their prompt response, noting that what impressed him most was not just the speed of the initial action but the determination to continue the crackdown beyond the first round of arrests.

He further stated that such interventions strengthen public faith in the legal system, the police force and the state's governance. Stressing the importance of citizen participation, Unni urged people not to remain silent when faced with social issues. "We often ask ourselves what one individual can do to bring about change in society. My answer is simple: be that one person. Take action. Raise your voice," he wrote.

The actor said he was proud to have played a small role in the process but reserved special praise for the young individuals who used social media as a tool for public good rather than mere entertainment. Concluding his note, Unni thanked the Kerala Police Department and specifically acknowledged police officer Hardik Meena for his efforts in addressing the issue. He added that meaningful change becomes possible when responsible citizens, law enforcement agencies and the government work together towards a common goal.
