Actor Rajesh Madhavan’s directorial debut Pennum Porattum (Girl and the Fools Parade) has been postponed to February 13, the makers announced on Tuesday. The shift comes alongside confirmation that the film, which was earlier slated to hit theatres on February 6, has completed its censor formalities and has obtained a clean U certificate.
Pennum Porattum, which premiered at the 56th International Film Festival of India and later screened at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala in 2025, is scripted by debutant Ravishankar. The film is billed as a comedy entertainer centred on a village thrown into turmoil by rumours, moral panic and misplaced righteousness. It features an ensemble cast of over 100 actors, largely comprising newcomers from the Palakkad villages where it was shot.
The technical crew of Pennum Porattum includes cinematographer Sabin Uralikandy, editor Chaman Chakko and composer Dawn Vincent. The film is produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla under the banner of STK Frames, in association with Binu George Alexander.
The postponement sees Pennum Porattum step away from an already crowded February 6 weekend, which is set to witness the releases of the Bhavana-Rahman starrer Anomie, Sharaf U Dheen’s Madhuvidhu and Ashakal Aayiram, featuring Jayaram and Kalidas Jayaram. With the revised date, Rajesh’s film will clash directly with Sukhamano Sukhamann, starring Mathew Thomas and Devika Sanjay, which is also slated for release on February 13.
