Anticipation is at a fever pitch for director Mahesh Narayanan's film Patriot, which hits theatres on May 01, Friday. A big reason for the hype around the film, produced by Anto Joseph, is its star-studded ensemble cast. The film brings Mammootty back together with Mohanlal for the first time after 2013's Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, where the latter has a brief cameo. However, one will have to go all the way back to 2008 for a film, Twenty:20, featuring the two Big M's of Malayalam cinema sharing the screen in more prominent roles. Patriot also stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathy, Darshana Rajendran, Rajiv Menon, Grace Antony, and Zarin Shihab, among others.
As we await the release of the multistarrer from director Mahesh Narayanan, one of its producers made a revelation about the filmmaker's potential collaboration with one of the biggest stars in South Indian cinema.
In a recent conversation with Radio Suno, Patriot producer CR Saleem said that Dulquer Salmaan has expressed his interest in working with Mahesh on a new film. Saleem said, "I have heard that when Mahesh showed certain sequences from Patriot at Mammootty's residence, Dulquer asked the filmmaker, 'When will you make a film with me?' Because Anto Joseph told me that the sequences in Patriot are that beautiful. Mahesh's next film might be produced by Anto Joseph and might star Dulquer in the lead role. There is every chance of that happening."
Mahesh has already worked with Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban, beyond Patriot. His 2017 film Take Off starred both Fahadh and Kunchacko, alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu. On the other hand, he directed Fahadh in films such as C U Soon and Malik as well and Kunchacko in Ariyippu. Given this history and Mahesh's track record, it is understandable that Dulquer Salmaan is also keen on collaborating with the critically acclaimed filmmaker.
