The makers of Dies Irae, Pranav Mohanlal’s upcoming horror thriller, have released a pronunciation guide to clear the air around the film’s Latin title. On Sunday, the team dropped an audio clip demonstrating the correct way to say it: “DEE-es EE-ray” (Dies Irae).

The phrase translates to “Day of Wrath” and comes from a medieval Latin hymn often associated with judgement and mortality. Given the film’s eerie tone and themes of haunting spirits, the title has been drawing plenty of curiosity since the teaser came out earlier in August.

Directed by Rahul Sadasivan and produced by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios, Dies Irae reunites much of the core team behind Rahul's Bramayugam, including cinematographer Shehnad Jalal and composer Christo Xavier. Alongside Pranav in the lead, the cast features Sookshmadarshini actor Manohari Joy and Jibin Gopinath, who has appeared in Vaazha, 2018: Everyone Is a Hero, Falimy, Kannur Squad, and Kishkindha Kaandam.

With its release set for Halloween on October 31, Dies Irae is already one of the most anticipated horror films of the year.
