Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues its meteoric run at the box office, with a new record now under its belt. On Monday, Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the banner behind the fantasy spectacle, announced on social media that Lokah has emerged as the all-time No. 1 Malayalam film on BookMyShow ticket sales.

The milestone comes as the film enters its third week of release, showing little sign of slowing down. According to trade reports, Lokah has reportedly grossed ₹88.50 crore in Kerala after 18 days, with its third Sunday alone contributing ₹5.30 crore. This marks the biggest-ever third weekend for a Malayalam release, beating the previous benchmark set by the Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum.

The momentum continued into day 19, with collections pushing the Kerala total to ₹89.50 crore by midday. With this, Lokah has already surpassed the lifetime gross of 2018: Everyone is a Hero at the state box office. Now, only Thudarum, which collected ₹118.90 crore in Kerala, remains ahead in the regional tally.

Globally, Lokah is rapidly closing in on the ₹250 crore mark, which would make it only the second Malayalam film after Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan to cross the milestone. If achieved, 2025 will go down as a historic year for Mollywood, with two 250-crore grossers released back-to-back.

Reimagining a beloved Kerala folklore through a superhero lens, Dominic Arun's Lokah was released on August 28 as the first instalment in a planned five-part cinematic universe. The film's ensemble features Kalyani in the titular role alongside Naslen, Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Nishanth Sagar and Vijayaraghavan. Tamil actor-choreographer Sandy makes his Malayalam debut as the antagonist, while Mammootty delivers a surprise appearance as the enigmatic Moothon. Cameos from Dulquer as Charlie/Odiyan and Tovino Thomas as Micheal/Chathan were also officially unveiled.

With record-breaking ticket sales and box office dominance across Kerala, the rest of India and overseas, all eyes are now on whether Lokah can topple L2: Empuraan to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time worldwide.
