On Sunday, actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph unveiled his new production company, Basil Joseph Entertainment, through his social media, accompanied by an animated video.

“Trying something I have never done before,” Basil said of the venture. He explained that it seeks to support stories “better, bolder, and in new ways”. The logo and animation were designed by Pavi Sankar, with contributions from Eunoian Studios, sound designer Nixon George, and composer Vishnu Vijay.

Industry speculation suggests the first production under Basil Joseph Entertainment could be the directorial debut of Arun Anirudhan, co-writer of Minnal Murali and Padayottam. Reports indicate that the upcoming project will feature Tovino Thomas, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Basil himself, though no official confirmation has been made.

Basil began his career assisting director Vineeth Sreenivasan on Thira in 2013 before making his directorial debut with the 2015 film Kunjiramayanam. He has since directed Godha and Minnal Murali, establishing himself as one of the most sought-after filmmakers in Malayalam cinema. As an actor, he has gained recognition in supporting and lead roles, including Joji, Jan. E. Man, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Palthu Janwar, Falimy, Nunakkuzhi, Sookshmadarshini and Ponman.

While Basil had earlier been linked to the planned big-screen adaptation of Shaktimaan, starring Ranveer Singh, the status of that project remains unclear.
