Yash-starrer Toxic has crossed the ₹200-crore mark worldwide in just three days, but the mixed response now puts the film’s long-term box-office run under the spotlight.

Yash’s Toxic has crossed a major box-office milestone, grossing ₹221.45 crore worldwide in its first three days, according to the latest collection figures. The film has entered the ₹200-crore club despite receiving a mixed response, putting it on a strong footing as it heads into the weekend.

The film’s third-day numbers, however, suggest that the real test may only be beginning.

In India, Toxic recorded a reported ₹26.60 crore net from 19,390 shows on Day 3. Its India gross collection now stands at ₹197.70 crore, while the net total has reached ₹165.35 crore.

The overseas markets have also contributed steadily. The film added ₹4 crore on its third day, taking its overseas gross to ₹23.75 crore. Together, the domestic and international figures have pushed the worldwide gross to ₹221.45 crore in just three days.

The opening day remains the film’s strongest so far, with a reported worldwide gross of ₹101.10 crore. Day 2 brought in ₹37.65 crore, followed by ₹26.60 crore net from India on Day 3. The dip in shows and collections is not unusual after a big opening, particularly with the third day falling on a working day. The mixed word of mouth, however, will be an important factor going forward.

With Saturday and Sunday expected to bring higher footfall, Toxic will be looking to convert its strong opening into sustained business. A significant jump over the weekend could put the film on track for a much bigger first-week total. If the collections remain flat, the film could face a tougher run in the days ahead.

Toxic Movie Review: Yash holds the film together, but the runtime pulls it apart

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic presents Yash in a very different space from his previous blockbuster outings. What the trailer initially suggested as a father-son conflict turns into a darker psychological story involving ambition, money, fame, desire and its consequences.

The film has also drawn attention from within the Kannada film industry, with Sudeep among those who have spoken positively about Yash’s attempt to experiment with a different kind of film.

For now, Toxic has achieved the first target by crossing ₹200 crore worldwide in three days. The bigger question is whether it can maintain that momentum after the opening weekend. That is the box-office test that matters now.
