Veteran Malayalam filmmaker Shaji Kailas has firmly denied recent speculation suggesting he is set to direct an upcoming film starring Mohanlal. In a statement issued on Facebook on Tuesday, the director clarified that there is no truth to the circulating rumours.

“I would like to address the rumours circulating regarding an upcoming project starring Mohanlal under my direction. Please note that these speculations are entirely false and baseless,” Shaji wrote. He added that any official announcements about his future projects would come directly from him and urged fans to disregard unfounded reports.

The clarification follows a post on X (formerly Twitter), which claimed that one of Mohanlal’s forthcoming films would be directed by Shaji. The post quickly gained traction, prompting widespread discussion among fans.

Shaji and Mohanlal's previous successful collaborations include blockbusters like Aaram Thamburan and Narasimham, among others. They both last collaborated on the 2023 film Alone, a pandemic-set thriller that received mixed responses.
