Shane Nigam's 25th film, a sports drama, is set to release in theatres on August 27, coinciding with Onam festival. The film, set in the backdrop of kabaddi, is written and directed by debutant Unni Sivalingam. It also stars Preethi Asrani and Shanthnu Bhagyaraj in prominent roles.
Produced by Santosh T Kuruvilla and Binu Alexander George under the banner of STK Frames, the yet-to-be-titled film is shot in Malayalam and Tamil, with filming locations including Coimbatore, Palakkad and Pollachi. The lead actors reportedly underwent rigorous training in kabaddi and gymnastics under national-level coaches ahead of shooting, which wrapped up recently. Several national and state-level Kabaddi players are also featured in the film.
The technical crew includes cinematographer Alex J Pulickal and Bollywood editor Shivkumar V Panicker, who earlier worked on films such as Kill, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Tumhari Sulu and Kapoor & Sons. According to the makers, the upcoming film’s soundtrack will mark the Malayalam debut of a well-known music composer, though details remain undisclosed.
Shane will next be seen in debutant Veeraa's romantic musical Haal, opposite Sakshi Vaidya, which is scheduled to hit theatres on April 24. The RDX actor also has Rosh Rasheed's El Clasico and an untitled film by Martin Joseph, presented by acclaimed filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, in the pipeline.
