As the release of Kalamkaval draws near, the mystery surrounding Mammootty’s character only deepens. The makers unveiled a gripping pre-release teaser on Monday that opens with a shot of photographs of missing girls, instantly setting a chilling tone. What follows is a series of visuals featuring Vinayakan, hinting at his role as a determined police officer caught in the maze of a complicated case. We hear his character’s voiceover: “Later on, this killing vibe has turned me into an addict.” Amid these glimpses, we briefly see Rajisha Vijayan standing alone outside a room at night.

The teaser then shifts its focus to Mammootty. His presence is powerful yet enigmatic. His confident voiceover, “The greatest pleasure is when you kill a human,” juxtaposed with his unsettling grin, leaves viewers guessing. The teaser avoids giving away any clear answers.

Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, who has co-written the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar, Kalamkaval promises an intense crime thriller rooted in real-life inspirations. While Mammootty has clarified that the story is not directly based on the Cyanide Mohan case, he acknowledged that there are traces of such real-world elements woven into the narrative.

Dies Irae-fame Jibin Gopinath also plays a significant role in the film. On the technical front, it has Faisal Ali on cinematography, Praveen Prabhakar handling edits, and Mujeeb Majeed composing the music and score. Kalamkaval hits cinemas on December 5.
