Pauly Jr Pictures dropped the first teaser for its upcoming film Dear Students, starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara, earlier today. The teaser reveals that Nayanthara plays a cop in the film and that Tamil actor Jayakumar Janakiraman is part of the cast. However, it keeps the film's plot under wraps. The roughly one-minute-long clip starts with Nivin's character making a cheesy joke to Nayanthara's cop. Then, he proceeds to sit next to her, making her question his intentions. The film is set in a public school, and the plot also seems to include some of the students there. The makers say that newcomers play the students.

Judging by the teaser, Nivin's character appears to be running a restaurant at the school, and Nayanthara's cop goes there to investigate him over some trouble pertaining to the college. That said, the makers are yet to reveal the film's official plot. The teaser hints at a fun entertainer rather than a gritty, serious film.

Dear Students reunites Nivin and Nayanthara for the first time after 2019's Love Action Drama. The film is written and directed by first-time filmmakers George Philip Roy and Sandeep Kumar. Nivin also produces the film under his Pauly Jr Pictures banner alongside Vineet Jain of Maverik Movies. The film has music by Justin Varghese and Sibi Mathew Alex, cinematography by Anend C Chandran and Shinoz, and editing by Lal Krishna. Its cast also includes Mallika Sukumaran, Suresh Krishna, Redin Kingsley, Jagadish, Aju Varghese, Lal, Sharaf U Dheen, Shaju Sreedhar, Edavela Babu, Nandu, and Johny Antony.

Production on the film has been wrapped. In the teaser, the makers say that it will hit theatres soon, without specifying the release date.
