Malayalam actor Kundara Johny passes away

The veteran was last seen in a prominent role in the Unni Mukundan-starrer Meppadiyan, which won this year's National award for Best Debut Film by a director

Malayalam actor Kundara Johny passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. The 72-year-old breathed his last in a private hospital in Kollam.

Kundara Johny made his acting debut in 1979 with Agniparvatham. Though he was predominantly seen in negative characters, he also made a strong mark in a few character roles. Some of his best roles came in films like Nadodikkattu, Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Godfather, Inspector Balram, Kireedom, and Chenkol.

Johny has also starred in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. The veteran was last seen in a prominent role in the Unni Mukundan-starrer Meppadiyan, which won this year's National award for Best Debut Film of a Director.

Ever since news about Kundara Johny's passing away got declared, several Malayalam movie lovers and prominent personalities from the film industry have been pouring their tributes on social media.

He is survived by his wife Stella, a college professor.
