Deepu Karunakaran, known for helming films like Crazy Gopalan, Teja Bhai & Family and Fireman, has announced a second part to his 2009-released film, Winter. Starring Jayaram and Bhavana as the leads, it was a slasher thriller that got its due only a few years after its original release. In a recent interview, director Deepu clarified that Winter 2 will have a different cast and a completely new storyline. Sharath Vinayak is scripting the film, while Deepu is producing it.

Deepu, whose last release was Karinkunnam 6S, is currently directing a love story with Indrajith Sukumaran and Anaswara Rajan as the leads. He is also producing Indrajith's upcoming film, Njan Kandatha Sir'e, directed by debutant Varun G Panicker.
