The sudden demise of actor and producer Dileep Raj has left the Kannada entertainment industry in mourning, with colleagues and longtime friends remembering not just his work, but the journey they shared with him. Among those deeply affected is Ganesh, who looked back on their early days in theatre and the rise of a friend he says was “the first among us to become famous.”

Speaking emotionally about Dileep Raj’s passing, Ganesh recalled how a group of aspiring actors, fresh out of college in the early 2000s, entered the industry together through theatre. “We were all doing stage plays together after college. Among our entire team, Dileep was the first one to gain popularity and land opportunities,” he said.

Ganesh described Dileep Raj as an energetic performer who stood out early for his screen presence and dancing skills. At a time when Kannada television was beginning to embrace mega serials, Dileep quickly became a familiar face. “No matter which serial you watched back then, people would say Dileep Raj was the main lead,” Ganesh remembered, adding that the actor remained cheerful and grounded despite his growing success.

The actor also reflected on the close-knit friendships shared by contemporaries like Duniya Vijay and Srinagar Kitty, who often visited television sets where Dileep worked. “We were all happy watching his growth. He was extremely hardworking,” Ganesh said.

Still struggling to process the news, Ganesh admitted the loss felt unreal. “When I heard about his death, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it at first,” he said, adding that he had met Dileep barely a few weeks ago.

Calling him “an incredible artist who deserved to go even further,” Ganesh offered condolences to Dileep Raj’s family and said the industry continues to grapple with the suddenness of the loss.
