Actor-producer Sharmiela Mandre has married filmmaker Sudhan Sundaram in a private wedding ceremony held in Jaipur on July 12. The couple exchanged vows in the presence of their families, close friends and a select group of guests from the film industry, opting for an elegant and intimate celebration.
The wedding festivities began with traditional pre-wedding ceremonies before the couple tied the knot in a South Indian ritual. Hosted against the backdrop of Jaipur's regal heritage, the celebrations reflected the couple's preference for a close-knit affair over a grand celebrity event.
Among those who attended the wedding was actor Ramya (Divya Spandana), one of Sharmiela's closest friends. Soon after the ceremony, Ramya shared an emotional note on social media, congratulating the newlyweds and reflecting on their long friendship.
"My sweet Champi is married! I can't believe I'm saying this—time flies, and how!" she wrote, before wishing Sharmiela a marriage built on love, trust and companionship.
Quoting Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran, Ramya said she hoped Sharmiela would have "the kind of marriage where you always feel safe, where you build something intimate and sheltered and entirely your own—where you can be exactly, completely yourself."
She ended the note with a heartfelt promise: "And know that I'll always be your sakhiye."
Photos from the wedding, including candid moments featuring Ramya and the newlyweds, have since been widely shared on social media, with fans and members of the Kannada film fraternity pouring in their wishes.
Sharmiela, who made her acting debut with Sajni, went on to star in films such as Navagraha, Mussanjemaatu, Krishna, Aake and Gaalipata 2. Besides acting, she has also established herself as a producer in recent years.
Sudhan Sundaram is a noted producer in South Indian cinema, known for backing several acclaimed films across languages. The couple had announced their engagement earlier this year, and their Jaipur wedding marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
