Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan starrer thriller Haiwaan is not picking up at the box office. The Priyadarshan directorial, which is a remake of his 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, opened on September 11 with a single-digit collection of Rs 3 crore. The film’s box office numbers fell through the weekend and now on its fifth day of release, it has managed to rake in only Rs 70 lakh net.

As per Sacnilk.com this takes the film's overall India net collection to Rs 8.75 crore, with its India gross now at Rs 10.46 crore. Overseas markets added Rs 15 lakh on Day 5, pushing the total overseas gross to Rs 3.15 crore. Combined, Haiwaan's worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 13.61 crore so far.

The film also received negative reviews from both critics and audience, it’s failure to make any dent at the ticket counters are also on account of films like Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanuman Ansh continuing to have a strong hold. With two relatively big-scale films like Vibe and Daayra releasing next week, the thriller is highly unlikely to pick up at the box office.

By the looks of it, Haiwaan will be Akshay’s lowest grossing film in last 11 years. The last time one of his films struggled to reach the nett figure of Rs 25 crore was with Sarfira (2024), which barely collected Rs 24.85 crore.

This is a major setback for Priyadarshan as well, who had tasted box office success earlier this year with Bhooth Bangla. For Saif Ali Khan, the wait for a box office hit continues — his last successful Hindi film was Tanhaji (2020), the historical action-drama where he played the antagonist.
