Prime Video today unveiled the trailer for its upcoming original movie Don’t Be Shy, a young adult romantic comedy produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions. The OTT film features upcoming actors Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora, and Ansh Duggal in the lead.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, Don’t Be Shy promises to tell the story of Shyamili Das aka Shy (Aarushi Bajaj), the perfect girl who has chalked out an elaborate plan for her successful life ahead. As she makes new friends and enters a new path towards her dream, the teaser then establishes the bed of little lies that she has created her ‘hep’ life upon. As reality hits back at her, with her close ones feeling hurt and betrayed by her actions, Shy now must make a tough choice — between accepting herself or marching ahead without regrets.
The film also has actors like Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia, and Anju Alva Naik in the supporting cast. Ram Sampath has composed music for the film.
Talking about her filmmaking debut, Sreeti said, “Don’t Be Shy came from a place of missing the movies I watched growing up — movies I still return to when I want to feel safe, comforted, and entertained. This is my tribute to that time in our lives, when we’re on the brink of adulthood but still young in so many ways.”
Aarushi Bajaj, who plays the titular character, said, “Stepping into Shy’s shoes pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. Playing the role of Shy also came with a sense of responsibility — I wanted to give her everything I had and do justice to her journey.”
Don’t Be Shy will premiere on September 25.
