The makers of Ramayana: Part 1 held two separate premieres for their film in US on Tuesday evening, one of which was held in Los Angeles. Now, early reactions to the film have started pouring in on social media, with most of them being positive.
An X user named ‘Ramascreen’ posted, “Ramayana Rise of a Legend was spectacular! The visuals, the dances, the music, the action were all colossal. Ranbir Kapoor was sublime, Yash was magnetic. One of this year’s most immersive cinematic experiences. A grand spectacle!” Popular YouTube channel duo Rick and Korbin Our Stupid Reactions praised the AI usage for English dub lip-sync, while also stating that the film largely caters to those who are already familiar with the film’s mythological universe and its characters. However, the duo also praises Yash's performance more than Ranbir Kapoor.
Meanwhile, many Letterboxd users too have posted their brief reviews of the film. An LB user named Anthony Deveney wrote, “Grandiose spectacle that succeeds as pure cinematic escapism.” Another LB user named Priyo, meanwhile was far less enthusiastic about the film. Part of his review read, “There are things to appreciate, especially Yash's performance, but the overall experience feels uneven. It isn't without merit, yet it leaves you wanting much more from a story that deserves nothing less than an emotionally powerful cinematic adaptation.”
Meanwhile, some of the film-goers also confirmed that there is a post-credit scene that mark the arrival of Hanuman’s character, played by Sunny Deol.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana: Part 1 will release worldwide on November 5.
Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, the mythological epic also stars Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, and Sheeba Chadha among others in the primary cast. AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer have composed music for the film.
