Recently, we reported about Curry Barker's Obsession being slated for an October 30 release on JioHotstar, where the horror film will make its digital premiere. In the latest announcement, the streaming service provider revealed on Thursday that actors Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon feature in the Hindi dubbed version of the film as voice artists. The streamer made the announcement with a video where Varun and Kriti can be heard as the voices of Bear and Nikki, respectively.
In the caption, JioHotstar wrote, “We wished we could tell you sooner, but where’s the fun in that? Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan are lending their voices to Nikki and Bear in Hindi, with Amar Kaushik bringing it all together. And let’s just say, we’re a little obsessed with how this one’s turned out.”
Obsession tells the story of a youngster (Michael Johnston) who expresses his desire to a novelty toy known as ‘One Wish Willow' to have her longtime girlfriend (Inde Navarrette) become his once and for all. What begins as a case of one-sided love for Bear turns into an obsessive quest for Nikki, turning their lives into a living hell.
Acting as a cautionary narrative, the film examines concepts such as male privilege, the value of moral integrity, vulnerability within partnerships, and the fallout of imposing affection. Besides Johnston and Navarrette in critically acclaimed roles, the film stars Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless, among others.
Upon its theatrical debut, Obsession turned into a major box-office phenomenon, raking in over $500 million in ticket sales. This commercial success has cemented its status as one of the top ten highest-grossing horror films in history and among the most profitable entries the genre has ever seen.
Obsession is slated to drop on the platform on October 30 at 7:00 pm, coinciding with the Halloween season.
