On November 02, coinciding with Shah Rukh Khan's birthday, the makers of King dropped a song titled 'Tu Mil Jaaye' for the superstar's upcoming film, directed by Siddharth Anand. The song hints at the grey shade of Shah Rukh's character in the film and pairs him with Deepika Padukone. Its picturisation and the combination of Shah Rukh and Deepika have drawn comparisons between the song and 'Besharam Rang' from their 2023 film Pathaan.

Another notable aspect of the song is the fact it has the vocals of popular singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Sachin-Jigar have composed the track, which boasts lyrics by Kumaar. 'Tu Mil Jaaye' has marked Ed Sheeran's playback singing debut in Hindi cinema. The song also has the vocals of Arijit Singh, who is also Sheeran's co-singer for 'Sapphire,' and Madhubanti Bagchi.

On Tuesday, Ed Sheeran spoke about how he ended up being part of the song. Taking to his Instagram Stories space, the singer-songwriter shared a clip from the recording session, showing him getting the Hindi lyrics right the first time.

In the video, he can be seen asked whether it was the first time he sang in Hindi, and Sheeran replied in the affirmative. In the caption, the singer wrote, "When I first met Shah Rukh, he said I must make a song to be in his next movie and also be my first Bollywood song. We've got to know each other over the years and I love him. Last time I was (in) India, I went to his house to get him to shoot a cameo in the Sapphire music video for me and Arijith Singh. He introduced me to Sachin-Jigar that day and I wrote and recorded my verse for Tu Mil Jaaye for his movie King that night. I love that Arijit singing on it with me too, all my favourite people on one project."

In response, Shah Rukh shared, "Can't thank you enough my friend for doing the song.. especially the Hindi bits. Love you Ed Sheeran."
