A successful collaboration between a leading actor and a music composer can often raise expectations for their next project. After delivering a popular soundtrack for Jawan, composer Anirudh Ravichander was expected to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for another major action entertainer. However, the upcoming film will now have a different musical team handling most of its soundtrack.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Anirudh has amicably parted ways with the makers of Siddharth Anand's King, with Sachin-Jigar brought on board to compose the film's songs and background score. The decision was reportedly mutual, following discussions between the composer, Shah Rukh Khan and the director's team.

A source quoted by the publication said Anirudh's multiple commitments in the South Indian film industry made it difficult for him to devote the time required for a project of this scale. The makers, meanwhile, are keen to complete the film in time for its planned Christmas release. The source added that Anirudh had already composed the film's theme track, which he has reportedly gifted to Shah Rukh Khan as a mark of respect. Sachin-Jigar will reportedly rework the theme and incorporate it into the film's background score while also composing the rest of the album.

The development marks a change from the musical collaboration between Anirudh and Shah Rukh in Jawan. Directed by Atlee, the 2023 action entertainer featured Anirudh's music and background score, with songs such as 'Chaleya', 'Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya' and 'Zinda Banda' becoming popular among audiences.

Sachin-Jigar, meanwhile, have composed music for several Hindi films, including Stree 2, Bhediya, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Munjya. The duo will now take charge of the complete soundtrack and score for King, apart from incorporating Anirudh's theme.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King reunites the filmmaker with Shah Rukh Khan after Pathaan. The film also stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi, among others. It is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.
