'Propaganda' label taken off Dhurandhar: The Revenge's Wikipedia description

The Wikipedia pages for both the Dhurandhar films are currently under editing restrictions, labelled under ‘extended confirmed protection’

A few days ago, we had reported about the wikipedia page of Dhurandhar: The Revenge adding ‘propaganda’ as a key descriptor for the movie in the opening paragraph. The edit was met with strong reactions on social media, with many taking objection to the term. The word has now been taken off that section of the film’s page, with the Aditya Dhar directorial now being described as a ‘Indian Hindi-language spy action-thriller film.’

The edit comes after heated online discussions between authorised Wikipedia users and editors over whether the ‘propaganda’ phrase was just for the film. It is to be noted that the Wikipedia pages for both the Dhurandhar films are currently under editing restrictions, labelled under ‘extended confirmed protection,’ meaning only users with the extended confirmed user access level, Wikipedia administrators, and bots can make edits to the page.

Interestingly, Wikipedia pages for films like The Bengal Files (2025), The Kerala Story (2023) and The Kerala Story 2, which too were massively supported by right-wing and received criticism for their alleged propaganda, too have been locked, and placed under ‘extended confirmed protection.’

Similarly, the Wikipedia page for The Kashmir Files (2022), a film that claimed to depict a honest retelling of communal violence against Hindus in Kashmir, was put under a state of ‘semi-protection,’ so that pages can be edited only by registered users until a set date in 2027.
