Recently, the Los Angeles City Council honoured actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh for his contributions to the field of music. Sharing a video where a councilor can be seen presenting him with an honourary award, the actor-singer's PR team wrote, "The Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted a civic resolution declaring January 6, 2027, as "Diljit Dosanjh day". Introduced by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, the resolution honors the Indian-born singer, actor, and producer for his significant contributions to globalizing Punjabi music and promoting South Asian representation in mainstream American culture."

Days after the news surfaced, actor Mallika Sherawat congratulated Diljit and shared a throwback picture, dating back to the time when the City of Los Angeles gave her a similar recognition. "Same honor, different times. Congratulations to Diljit Dosanjh. Grateful for my moment at Los Angeles City Hall," Mallika Sherawat wrote.

Back in 2009, the City of Los Angeles conferred Mallika with an Honourary Citizenship and Official Resolution. She was also the first actor from India to receive the recognition at the time. The actor dedicated it to Hindi cinema and India back then. Sharing the throwback picture, Mallika wrote, "Los Angeles City Hall. Resolution received. No compromise. Self-earned."

Coming back to Diljit, the actor is getting much appreciation for his performance in Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga, co-starring Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, among others. In our Cinema Express review, Kartik Bhardwaj wrote, "Nirvair is an Imtiaz man, curious, confused and conflicted. He hides behind bad jokes and avoids confrontations. He has pieces of Rockstar’s (2011) Janardhan in him, his innocence mirrors Abhay Deol’s Viren’s from Socha Na Tha (2005). Diljit plays him with such finesse. He is funny but not a comic relief, emotional but never breaking down. Nirvair is like a blank slate on whom a new history is being written. A new generation which can finally jettison the pain."
