Actor Mallika Sherawat recently met Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho and shared a photograph featuring the two on social media. "Had such a great time chatting with the Oscar winner, the maestro director Bong Joon Ho," Mallika wrote. She added, "His films have always stirred something deep within me, from the raw intensity of Snowpiercer to the layered brilliance of Parasite."
Soon after she dropped the photograph, internet users have been making quirky references to Mallika's erotic thriller Murder, co-starring Emraan Hashmi and directed by Anurag Basu. Many of the comments went like, "Memories of Murder 2," alluding to the similiarity in the names of Mallika's 2004 film and Joon Ho's iconic thriller that hit a year before her film.
Some netizens suggested, seemingly in a tongue-in-cheek manner, that Mallika Sherawat is quietly planning her Hollywood comeback. Some of her credits in the English language are Hisss, Politics of Love, and the English version of The Myth, co-starring Jackie Chan. On the other hand, other users suggested that Joon Ho is eyeing a Bollywood debut.
Either way, the meeting between the iconic actor and the legendary filmmaker have certainly ensured a field day with it for netizens.
