Main Vaapas Aaunga, the latest Imtiaz Ali directorial, continues to defy many trade expectations at the box office. The period drama stars Vedang Raina, Sharvari, Diljit Dosanjh, and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead cast.

According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 3.10 crore (nett) on its 2nd Tuesday, 24 per cent higher than its figures on 2nd Monday. Additionally, Tuesday also marked the film’s highest single-day collections so far, outside of weekends. The film registered significantly higher occupancies in Delhi (51 per cent), as compared to the 30-35 percent range in other tier-1 cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. So far, the film’s domestic nett collections stand at Rs 30 crore.

It can’t be denied that the lower ticket prices on Tuesday definitely contributed to the film’s collections. At the same, Main Vaapas Aaunga has only shown an upward trend in terms of footfalls and occupancies.

After its impressive performance on 2nd weekend, the film also got 660 additional screens for weekdays.

Although Main Vaapas Aaunga has a reportedly high budget of Rs 70 crore, and still has a long way before earning the hit status, the film’s turnaround at the box office after a dull start remains a rare accomplishment in recent times. By the looks of it, despite the arrival of Welcome To The Jungle next week, the Imtiaz Ali film will continue to have decent footfalls for the coming few days, and reach closer to break-even before Alpha releases on July 3.

As of on Wednesday morning, the film has grossed 48 crores at the box office worldwide, out of which 13 crores come from overseas territories.
