After a very dull start, Imtiaz Ali’s latest film Main Vaapas Aaunga had shown impressive growth over the weekend, with 120 percent growth in collections. On Monday, the period drama earned less when compared to its Sunday business.
According to box office tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs. 1.25 crore on Monday, which is a standard 50 percent drop from its Sunday figures of Rs 2.5 crores. While these numbers are still quite low, the positive word-of-mouth response from critics and on social media has clearly helped the film recover to some extent.
However, the film needs to not just sustain but rather show an improvement in collections over the weekend and carry on steadily into week 2 as well. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 70 crores, Main Vaapas Aaunga has earned Rs 8.10 crores in the first 4 days at the domestic box office.
The period drama stars Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Naseeruddin Shah in lead cast. AR Rahman has composed music for the film, while lyrics are by Irshad Kamil. The ensemble cast includes Anjana Sukhani, Rajat Kapoor, Sanjay Suri, Dolly Ahluwalia and Manish Chaudhari.
Produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Mohit Choudhary and Shibhashish Sarkar, Main Vaapas Aaunga marks the 10th feature film for Imtiaz Ali in his 22-year career.
