Manoj Bajpayee starrer Governor is set for theatrical release on June 12. A few days ahead of the film’s release, the makers released new single of their film, titled ‘Jagmag Jagmag.’

Sung by Shashwat Singh, ‘Jagmag Jagmag’ is a pleasant throwback to the early years of composer Amit Trivedi’s career, carrying an uplifting rock-based sound and is positive in its mood. Penned by Javed Akhtar, ‘Jagmag’ is a song about hope and optimism in the face of all barriers, and about looking forward to good times which are inevitable in their arrival.

The music video, besides focusing on the protagonist’s rising stature in his new high-stakes position as RBI Governor, also captures moments of his family’s progress, where the daughter pursues her education and her mother (played by Madhoo) remains steady in her support for both of them.

Set against the evolving India of 1990, Governor is based on a real-life figure S Venkitaramanan, an economist who paved the path for India embracing a new financial policy and opening its doors to global economy.

Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Governor will clash at the box office against many films like Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga and Kangana Ranaut led Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata.
