Shabana Azmi diagnosed with swine flu, extends solidarity to Mumbai protestors

The veteran actor was present in Delhi earlier this week to participate in the Jantar Mantar protests against the NEET paper leak scam

Shabana Azmi, who was one of the earliest Hindi film celebrities to support the ongoing CJP-led protests in Delhi, has been actively making social media posts about the same and extending her support to students. The actor was also planning to attend the Mumbai protest march which took place on July 24. However, the actor’s health has taken a downturn recently, as she was diagnosed with H1N1 i.e. Swineflu. On Saturday, the veteran actor shared an update about her health, while continuing to support the students. 

Penning a note for fellow Mumbaikars present at the protest and updating her followers about her health condition, Shabana Azmi wrote, “I was meant to join your protest yesterday, but I’ve come down with H1N1 and need to remain in isolation for the next five days. Even so, I want to express my solidarity and appreciation.”

Further extending her solidarity with the students, she added, “I’m receiving first-hand reports from the young people on the ground, many of them have taken part in a protest for the first time and have experienced how much their voice counts . I continue to be inspired by your courage and commitment and stand by you in solidarity.”

The actor also shared a poem written by her father and legendary peot Kaifi Azmi, titled Naujawan, dedicating to it the young people participating in the protests.

Many fans wished the actor for a speedy recovery in the comments section. “You rest up well ma'am. we love you and pray for a speedy recovery,” one of them wrote.

The Mumbai protest march on Friday was attended by many eminent film figures like Kritika Kamra, Ida Ali, Jim Sarbh, Atul Kulkarni, Rajat Barmecha, and Makarand Deshpande among others.
