Seldom do actors get to work with their favourite directors, and even when they do, they have to endure endless auditions or at least a prolonged waiting period. As for Mrunal Thakur, she got the opportunity to star in her upcoming film Do Deewane Seher Mein, opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi, with a bit of good fortune, in addition to her talent as an actor.
Speaking to Galatta Plus recently, Mrunal said that she chanced upon the film's director Ravi Udyawar just a few weeks before the film went on floors. "It literally took me no time to be on this movie," Mrunal started. "I met Ravi sir in an elevator and fortunately I just shifted to this new building. My mother was standing next to me and she told him, 'I love your film Mom (the 2017 Sridevi starrer).' My mom recognised him first. Then, I told him that I am a big fan of his and that I would really like to work with him."
Ravi Udyawar promised that he would meet Mrunal Thakur later. Recalling the meeting, she said, "Within a week, he dropped me a message asking what I was doing. I said, 'Sir I was just packing my bags to go to Dubai. I have one and a half hour to kill.' He is like, 'Why don't you come up, I have to tell you something.'"
When Mrunal went to Ravi's flat, she learnt that the filmmaker had a story for her. Having liked the one-liner, the actor asked for a more detailed narration. "Next day, after I came back from my event in Dubai, I was in Ravi Udyawar's office. Writer Abhiruchi (Chand) narrated the story to me, and I agreed to do the project. By April, we were on the floor, shooting it," Mrunal recounted.
Do Deewane Seher Mein is slated for a February 20 release.
