Neetu Chandra: I don’t chase roles anymore, but stories that stay with me

Neetu's comeback project Aakhri Sawal stars Sanjay Dutt, Sameera Reddy, Amit Sadh and Tridha Chaudhary among others

Sanjay Dutt starrer Aakhri Sawal is set for theatrical release on May 8. The ensemble cast for the political drama includes Sameera Reddy, Neetu Chandra and Amit Sadh among others. Neetu Chandra, for whom Aakhri Sawal marks a comeback to the big screen, recently about how the project has been a journey of learning and growth for her.

In an official statement, Neetu said about her upcoming film, “Over the years, my perspective has evolved. I don’t chase roles anymore, I chase stories that stay with you. Aakhiri Sawal is one such film. It’s not just cinema, it’s a question that lingers long after the lights go out. Being part of something so intense and thought-provoking feels far more meaningful than simply being in the spotlight.”

Aakhri Sawal is directed by National Award–winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang.  Talking about collaborating with Sanjay Dutt and Abhijeet, Neetu added, “Abhijeet’s vision brings rare depth to storytelling, and sharing the screen with a legend like Sanjay Dutt has been nothing short of transformative. It has been a journey of learning, growth, and rediscovery.”

The film is produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, and co-produced by Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Utkarsh Naithani.

The teaser, released on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, sparked many conversations on social media about the story of RSS that will be explored in the theme. Rooted in real events, the film claims to offer a window into the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and explore some controversial and debated themes around its role in contemporary Indian history. 

Neetu Chandra, who began her career in 2005 with a key role in Garam Masala, is known for her work in films like Traffic Signal, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, and more.
