Actor Vishal opened up about his long-standing friendship with actor Udhayanidhi Stalin and his wife Kiruthiga, recalling their college days and stating that their bond would remain unaffected even if he eventually enters politics.
Speaking at the audio launch of Magudam, Vishal said his affection for Udhayanidhi dates back to their student days, when he was in love with Kiruthiga. “I love Udhaya and Kiruthiga. Come what may, I will always love them. My love for Udhaya started during our student days, when he was in love with Kiruthiga. There is no chance of enmity between us. Even if I enter politics tomorrow, it would only be healthy competition. There will never be a rift or conflict between us,” he said.
Vishal also recalled some mischievous memories from their college days, particularly their encounters with traffic police in Gopalapuram. He said the duo would frequently ride triple, which resulted in them being stopped and asked to produce their driving licences. “We have been caught by the traffic police in Gopalapuram several times because we used to ride triple. The police would ask for our licences, and I would make Udhaya tell them his father's name. But he would hesitate every time,” Vishal recalled.
According to Vishal, Udhaya has always preferred to establish his own identity rather than rely on his father's name, even during his college days. “He never uses his father's name, even in college,” he added.
Vishal also addressed speculation about his political entry, suggesting that 2031 could potentially be a significant year, though he is currently focused on other commitments. “Politics should come as a calling. It might happen in 2031, but right now I have several commitments, including completing the Nadigar Sangam building and getting married. I am not ruling politics out entirely,” he said.
Vishal is currently gearing up for the release of his directorial debut, Magudam. Also starring Anjali and Dushara Vijayan along with Vishal, the film is gearing up to open in theatres on August 14.
