Earlier this Wednesday, Shahid Kapoor announced through social media that 'Jab Talak,' the first single from his upcoming film Cocktail 2, will release on April 08, Wednesday. Directed by Homi Adjania, who also helmed the first part, the movie stars Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, too, in important roles. Written by Luv Ranjan, the movie comes fourteen years after the release of the romantic-comedy film Cocktail, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty in the lead roles.

Cocktail 2 is not a direct sequel to the 2012 film but is rather a spiritual successor to it. Recently, Kriti said that it has a vibe that is comparable to the first part. "The tone and atmosphere are in a comparable realm, yet the narrative and characters are entirely distinct. There’s no direct connection to Cocktail aside from the fact that it encompasses a mix a cocktail of emotions, camaraderie, drama, music, and stunning locations," she added.

Kriti also described her character in the film as the 'hottest' in her career thus far. The film brings Shahid back together with Kriti after 2024's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. It marks the first collaboration between Shahid and Rashmika, between Rashmika, Kriti and Homi Adjania, as well as between Homi Adjania and Luv Ranjan (who is also known for his rom-coms).

Notably, the Cocktail 2 teaser was shown during the screenings of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, director Aditya Dhar's film starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The teaser is yet to be released online. Recently, the film's makers released a poster giving a first look at the characters in it and announced its release date. Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, the movie is slated for a June 19 release in theatres.
