Aamir Khan pays tribute to Zubeen Garg: ‘A true legend, his voice touched millions’

Zubeen passed away while doing scuba diving in Singapore on September 19

Aamir Khan on Thursday paid tribute to singer Zubeen Garg and gave condolences to his family via a social media post.

Calling Zubeen ‘a true legend’, the actor’s production house, Aamir Khan Productions, took to its Instagram stories and wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Zubeen Garg. A true legend, his voice touched millions, and his music shaped generations. His contribution to art and culture will forever remain unmatched. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. TEAM AKP.”

Zubeen died while doing scuba diving in Singapore on September 19. His autopsy report and death certificate, issued by the Singapore High Commission, mentions “drowning” as the reason of death. He had visited Singapore to participate in the Northeast India Festival.

He shot to fame with the song, ‘Ya Ali’ from Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut starrer Gangster (2006) and has given his vocals to tracks like, ‘Dil Tu Hi Bataa’ from Krrish 3 (2013), ‘Yeh Kaisi Jagah’ from Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015), and more recently in ‘Roothoon’ from Woh Bhi Din The (2024). He also served as a music composer, producer, lyricist, actor, filmmaker, and scenarist.
