Singer Zubeen Garg was cremated on Sunday, and his mortal remains are kept at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. The singer, best known as the voice behind the 'Ya Ali' track from Emraan Hashmi-Kangana Ranaut's Gangster, reportedly died while swimming in Singapore. The Chief Minister has assured a comprehensive investigation into this matter as well.

People thronged the Stadium in Guwahati to pay their final respects to Zubeen on Sunday. As a result of the high turnout, the government has chosen to keep his mortal remains at the location until Monday following the announcement of a state mourning for three days. On Monday, too, "the mortal remains of Zubeen will be kept at Sarusajai for people to offer their homage,” the state's Chief Minister said. Many fans organised processions and went the night sleepless, with Zubeen posters in their hands as well as singing his best-known songs.

Zubeen also served as a music composer, producer, lyricist, actor, filmmaker, and scenarist. He is known for his work as a philanthropist as well. He visited Singapore to participate in the Northeast India Festival, and it has been called off after his tragic demise. The CID, Assam, is looking into his tragic passing following the filing of multiple FIRs against the festival's chief organiser, Shyamkanu Mahanta, and the singer's manager Siddhartha Sarma.
