A new poster from Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming courtroom-drama, Haq was unveiled by the makers on Friday. Directed by Suparn S Varma (Rana Naidu, The Family Man), the film also stars Vartika Singh, Danish Husain and Sheeba Chadha and Aseem Hattangady in pivotal roles.
In the poster, Yami and Emraan face each other in the courtroom, teasing an intense battle. The post’s caption read, “Her Haq on one side. His belief on the other. This is no ordinary fight.”
As per the makers, the film is a fictionalized and dramatized version of events stated in the book titled Bano: Bharat ki Beti written by Jigna Vora. It tells the story of Supreme Court’s 1985 judgement in the case of Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum, where the court ruled that a divorced Muslim woman is entitled to maintenance under the law. Ahmed Khan, a prominent lawyer, had divorced his wife, Shah Bano after 14 years of marriage and abandoned her along with their children, which made her to file a petition in court for giving her maintenance under section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The film is written by Reshu Nath and features music by Vishal Mishra with the words of Kaushal Kishore.
Produced by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja, Haq is set to be released in theatres on November 7.
