Actor Ali Fazal, known for playing the hyperviolent character of Guddu in the crime-thriller Mirzapur, has shared some updates about the next season of the show. The actor also shared details about Mirzapur: The Film and said that he heard its script recently.
In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Ali said that he is excited for the film. “We are all very excited, and the original cast is coming back for it, and just last week, I heard the script. It’s very nice. It’s going to be a big surprise for everyone.” Ali added that it will not just be a show which is turned into a film but will go beyond. “Peaky Blinders has done the same format. They are making a film out of that,” he said.
Ali didn’t say anything about the cast of the film and said that the makers will be making an official announcement soon. When asked about the next season of the show, Ali said, “That is still being written because I don’t know. It will probably be the last season.”
The actor was also asked to comment about the use of bad language and nudity in OTT shows. Ali said, “When it was new, people were just abusing in all the OTT shows. All the OTT shows were just about crass language and sex; it was heightened, I think. It just felt like people were venting, but slowly, everything has been normalised. If you are on OTT or elsewhere, the responsibility is on you. Responsible viewing, responsible making, however you define that.”
Mirzapur: The Film was announced last year, and it was confirmed by the makers that it will feature Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali) and Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu) along with Abhishek Banerjee, who plays the role of Compounder. On the other hand, the third season of the show premiered last year on Prime Video.
On the work front, Ali will be seen next in the musical-romance, Metro…In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu. It is set to be released in theatres on July 4. Ali Fazal says new season of Mirzapur will ‘probably be the last’, gives update on the film: ‘Big surprise for everyone’
