Vir Das is coming up with his new stand-up comedy special titled Fool Volume. It is set to premiere on Netflix on July 18, the streaming platform announced on Friday. This is Vir’s fifth special with Netflix after Abroad Understanding (2017), Losing It (2018), For India (2020), Vir Das: Outside In (2020) and Vir Das: Landing (2022).

Netflix unveiled a poster for the special which features Vir holding a lamp in his hand. The caption read, “Indian comedy is not silent, it returns with Fool Volume.”

Speaking about it, Vir said in a press release, “Netflix and I were about to shoot a special with a different theme. The universe had other plans. I lost my voice two months before that show. This is a show rewritten in silence and performed without rehearsal across the world. Turns out the voice in your head is way crazier than the one in your throat. A special that asks the important question: How much happiness do you share when it comes back? What does it mean for any of us to REALLY use our voice?”

His 2022 special Landing won International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 2023. The comedian also hosted the 52nd International Emmy Awards last year.
