Deepak Tijori says he envied Irrfan Khan: ‘Wanted to do the kind of movies he did but…’

Deepak Tijori feels that he was always an actor and not a ‘star breed’

Deepak Tijori said recently in an interview that envied the late Irrfan Khan as he wanted to do the kind of films Irrfan did but never got the chance. Deepak feels that he was always an actor and not a ‘star breed’.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Deepak said, “There was always one actor I envied that was Irrfan Khan. The kind of cinema he did, that was the kind I wanted to do. But I never got the opportunity because they always thought I was too commercial a property to be part of that cinema."

He added, “I was always an actor. I was never a star breed. "That's why if you see me in cinema, I don't have songs to play like Shah Rukh Khan. You guys do all those boss-level songs. I used to say, 'Okay, I'll do my work,' but I never had songs. I used to tell them - don't make me sing, yaar, I find it annoying."

The actor is known for starring in supporting roles in the 90s in movies like Aashiqui (1990), Sadak (1991), Khiladi (1992), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), among others.

Last year, he wrote, directed and starred in the action-thriller, Tipppsy. He will be seen next in the romantic-drama, Ittar, helmed by Veena Bakshi and also starring Rituparna Sengupta, Eklavya Sood, and Sanyogita Bhave.
