Ramayana full cast: Who is playing whom in Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi's mythological epic

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana has been the most-awaited project of recent years. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film has generated lot of curiosity about its cast and which actor will play the mythological characters from the epic. While the makers have kept details under wraps, a first look from the film will be unveiled on June 3.

Meanwhile, it is confirmed that Ranbir plays Rama and Sai Pallavi plays Sita along with Yash, who plays Ravana and Sunny Deol playing Hanuman. TV actor Ravi Dubey is set to play Lakshmana and Indira Krishnan will essay the role of Kaushalya, the mother of Rama. The role of Rama’s father, Dashrath will be essayed by Arun Govil, popularly known for playing the role of Rama in the TV series on the mythological epic. Additionally, it is confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal will play the role of Mandodari.

Along with that, some reports state that Amitabh Bachchan has been approached for the role of Jatayu. Mohit Raina, known for playing Lord Shiva in the TV Show, Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, will likely be seen reprising the role in the film.

Further, Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh have been reportedly roped in to play Kaikeyi and Surpanakha respectively. Kunal Kapoor is set to play Lord Indra while Vivek Oberoi has been approached for a role too.

An official confirmation on the extended cast is awaited.

Meanwhile, the shooting for the first part of the film was wrapped on Tuesday as Ranbir was seen cutting a cake along with director Nitesh Tiwari and others.

Ramayana will be released in a two-part film series. It is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The first part is set to be released on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027.
