Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi gets nominated in two categories at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2024

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web-series debut Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has secured nominations in two categories at the prestigious 29th Busan International Film Festival (Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2024) for Best OTT Original and Best Original Song for ‘Sakal Ban.’

It is the only Indian title to be nominated in the two categories at the festival. The awards will be held on Sunday October 6, 2024, at the BIFF Theater of the Busan Cinema Center in South Korea.

Speaking on the nominations, Sanjay said in a press note, “It’s an honor to be nominated for the Asia Contents Awards. I’m grateful to the jury and the audiences for this incredible recognition.”

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar was set in pre-independent India against the backdrop of the freedom movement and told the story of the courtesans, the nawabs, and the British, and the tussle for power amongst them. It premiered on Netflix on May 1.

The makers recently announced that the show has been renewed for season 2.
